What is a Giclee?

Giclee” (pronounced Jee Clay), from the French for little squirt.

A “giclee” print is a piece of printed artwork produced by using a high quality digital Inkjet Printer. Extremely fine droplets of ink are spurted onto heavy paper or artists canvas. These droplets can be controlled by computer so that the resolution of the printed image is much finer than conventional printing.

We use the Epson 2000P for the production of our Giclee’s, this printer offers 6 Color Printing using Permanent Archival Inks with a durability of over 100 years (according to Epson). In conjunction with this we use Epson quality papers, specifically designed to use with this Printer, to give the very best overall result.

The Epson Premium Semi-Gloss 67lbs/ream which we use, in conjunction with the Permanent Epson Inks, have a lifetime of over 100 years and upto 200 years. It is recommended that in order to achieve that longest life of your print and minimize any color change, your print should be matted, displayed behind conservation glass in a frame, and away from direct sunlight.
